Eleanor Chisolm

January 29, 1928 — January 21, 2015

Eleanor Doris Chisolm was born January 29, 1928 in Lepanto, Arkansas to Edna and Ray Chisolm and passed away January 21, 2015 at the age of 86. She grew up in Arkansas and moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1946. Doris was always gifted in the field of business working for many, many businesses, among them were the Federal Reserve Bank, Joskes and various insurance companies. After relocating to California in the 1960s she worked for Weyerhaeuser, and AT&T. Doris did all this in an era when women were seldom hired. In between all these endeavors she received her degree in Psychology. She retired from AT&T in California and after retirement she followed her passion, traveling throughout the south tracing her Scottish family roots. She compiled and documented a genealogy on her family entitled, Our Chisolm Clan in America, a three hundred page genealogy replete with many family pictures. Doris was a thirteenth generation southern woman and had many ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, one of whom was Lt. Col. Thomas Chisolm who fought in Washington's Continental Line. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Doris passed away January 21, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas with her sisters, Helen Burgett and Betty Hutzler at her side along with her son, Arthur Cooper, Nancy Cooper and brother-in-law Arthur Burgett. She also leaves a brother, George Chisolm and his wife, Mary of Louisiana and two other children, Preston Cooper of California and Peggy Suzuki of Washington. She loved and had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris was always a very generous woman giving away all that she owned. Visitation will be Monday, January 26, 2015, 12:00NOON - 12:30PM at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel, with the Funeral Service to begin at 12:30PM. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North Cemetery.
