Edward Koncsol

Edward Daniel Koncsol, born October 30, 1942 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, died on September 11, 2015, in Schertz, Texas. Edward, often called "Ed", "Eddie", or "Ko" accomplished much in his 72 years. In the summer of 1960, he enlisted in the United States Air Force completing a total of 28 years of dedicated service. During his service he achieved numerous awards, including awards for Meritorious Service, 1986, Distinguished Flying Cross, 1972, Air Medal (4), 1972, Presidential Unit Citation, 1972, and the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, 1972. He then worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for 7 years, was a SCUCISD Substitute Teacher, and was an Independent Management Contractor until he passed. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed bowling, he held the title of Professional Bowling Member for 3 years, and was also a monthly columnist writer for "The Kegler" which was distributed statewide. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Louis E. Koncsol and Anna Mary Koncsol. He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Koncsol of Schertz, Texas; sons, Edward Koncsol, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and Miles B. Koncsol of Schertz, Texas; daughter, Audrey Koncsol of Dallas, Texas; stepson, Robert Cerasuolo of Schertz, Texas; Brother, Kenneth Koncsol; grandchildren, Cambrynne, McKeil, Kierre, Mary and Stormy and his first wife, Mary. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside service will be held, Friday, September 18, 2015 at 1:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A Celebration of life will be held immediately following the graveside service at The American Legion Post 593, located at 326 Legion Dr. W. Converse, TX 78109.
