Edmund Ching

April 6, 1932 — April 21, 2017

Edmund Ching:

Beloved husband and friend, father, avid Spurs Fan passed away April 21 at home. He was a ROTC graduate from Duquesne University and received his commission into the Army in 1954. He served our country honorably for 28 years having earned the Meritorious Service, National Defense Service and Bronze Star Medals during his career. Edmund resumed his education after retirement from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel by earning a Masters Degree in Business Administration and certifications as a Real Estate Agent and Home Builder. Ensuring an excellent education for his children and grandchildren was of prime importance. His greatest joy was raising and enjoying the company of three daughters and three sons, hauling them three times across the United States while camping in tents, pop-up trailers, and RV's . His heart never left his beloved family in Hawaii. An annual visit to the Islands was a priority.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters and a daughter. He is survived by his wife, Johanna, daughters Anne Marie Weis (husband Larry) and Marguerite Klassen (husband Steve), three sons Edmund, Robert (wife Mary Jo), and Michael. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Teresa and Adam Klassen, Christina and Patrick Weis, and Carson Ching.

There will be a rosary prayed at 6 P.M. followed by memorial visitation until 8 P.M. on April 25 at the Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will occur at a later date at Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific.
