Edgar Garman Sr.

Edgar Lloyd R. Garman, Sr., age 73, of Selma, TX, and of Williamsport, PA, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 in Selma, TX. He was a member of Church of the Savior Lutheran and attended The Williamsport Assembly of God. Edgar was born on August 3, 1935, in Williamsport, PA, a son of Florence E. and Fredrick P. Garman. He and his wife, the former Shirley M. Miller, observed their 52nd Wedding Anniversary last June 30th. Edgar attended Williamsport Area Community College. He served 10 ½ years in the United States Air Force. He retired from Avco Lycoming in 1987. Edgar served as Past Master of Lodge 106. He served as Treasurer for the Williamsport Area Wrestling Club. He is a member of Zafar Grotto, Lycoming Royal Arch Chapter #22, Baldwin Commandry #22 and Adoniram Council #26. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #1. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Edgar L.R., Jr. (Jean) of Williamsport and James M. (Chris) of Ohio; daughters; Tammie S. Jorge (Alberto) and Shellie A., both of Selma, TX; grandchildren, Zachary, Brooks, AJ, Amanda, Allie, Ayla, Joey, Josh and Elliot; 1 great grandchild; Braize; sisters, Esther Karney, Louise Rook, Kate Zuber, Lois Bower, Hazel Rhone; and brothers; Howard and Daniel Garman. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Paul and George. Funeral Services will be held 12:30 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Universal City, TX. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full Military Honors.
