Dr. Castaneda

Dr. Jaime Enrique Castaneda was called up to heaven in his sleep on February 21,2021, at the age of 77. He was born on August 15, 1943 in Benavides, TX, to Emilio and Antonia Castaneda. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cecilia Castaneda, his beloved children: Jaime Castaneda , Jr, Cecilia Cruz, Antonia Castaneda, and Catherine Woodward and her husband, Virgil Woodward; his cherished grandchildren: Gabriela Castaneda, Jacob Castaneda; his “Jackie-Jackie,” Ariana, Emily, and Victoria; Alicia and Matthew; his closest brother Joseph and his wife, Marylou Castaneda and their children: Sam( late), Mercedes, Andrea, and Joel and their children.

Jaime was a Naval corpsman, a medical doctor in Monterrey, Mexico and a pharmacist. He worked hard over the years to provide for his family, and loved to help out his friends whenever possible. He loved his University of Texas, the Navy, and his Mexican corridos. He was a great swimmer and loved to take his family to the beach almost every weekend to swim and fish. He tried to instill good habits and good decision making for his children and grandchildren and was always encouraging his family and friends. He loved a good conversation. In his last years, he dedicated his time visiting the grandchildren and helping care for his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with the rosary to recited at 7:00pm, at the Schertz Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday , March 17, 2021, 8:30am at the Schertz Funeral Home, with the interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
