Doyle Tracy Creel passed away peacefully on November 6th after fighting a long, hard battle with multiple myeloma for over 2 years. Doyle was born November 8, 1950 in Gonzales, Texas. He grew up in West Texas before his family settled in San Antonio. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1969 and then went on to the University of Texas at Austin before graduating from Southwest Texas State University. Doyle then joined the Department of Public Safety as a highway patrolman for 6 years. He then worked for several residential construction companies as a site project manager before returning to school to pursue his Master's in Education. He touched many lives as a teacher in Special Education and in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement at Roosevelt High School before retiring in 2007. Doyles passion was being in the outdoors and as such, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, best friend and advocate for over 35 years, Kathy; son, Scott Creel and wife, Jill; daughter, Laurissa Dennis and husband, Nick; grandchildren, Connor and Lindsay Creel, and Reagan and Kelly Dennis; brother, Lynn Creel and sister, Caroline Garrett. The family wishes to acknowledge their sincerest appreciation to Doyle's oncologist, Dr. David Gordon, and his outstanding and compassionate staff for the past two years, and the staff at Vitas Hospice for making his last days comfortable so he could pass away with dignity. Thank you for everything. The family wants to also acknowledge the many friends and family who visited, called and kept Doyle involved in life to the end. We will never be able to thank you for uplifting us at our darkest hours. A Memorial Service honoring Doyle will be held Thursday, November 10th at 10 AM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Vitas Hospice.
