Dorothy Towers

September 3, 1941 — September 2, 2019

Dorothy Marie Towers “Granny”, age 77, passed away on September 2, 2019. Dorothy was born September 3, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Elmon and Ella Anna Windham. Dorothy and her family moved to San Antonio when she was young. After her school years, she went on to work at FedMart, Blauser’s Pharmacy and Sammy’s Restaurant in Castroville where she met the love of her life. Once Towers Construction was created by her husband, Claude, Dorothy could be found working by his side whenever he needed a helping hand.

Dorothy had many, many friends and was very active in her community. She was a member of a bunco group, a line dancing class and would go on frequent casino bus trips. You could always count on her to be at every birthday party, wedding shower, baby shower or funeral she was invited to. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports and attending mass every Saturday evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She will be remembered most of all for her love of babies (especially rocking them to sleep) and her Sunday family lunches. She took pride in providing for her family and friends and never expected anything in return. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brother Larry and his wife Amanda, sister-in-law Pat, son-in-law Don, son Russell and his wife Patty, grandchildren Staci, Amy and Corey, great-grandchildren Daniel, Ethan, Luke, Emma and Isaac and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Claude, sister Shirley, brother Glen Roy, daughters Sherry and Kathy, and grandson Michael.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00PM on Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with Graveside Services immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
