Dorothy Solomon

DOROTHY (Dot) SOLOMON, 92, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 11, 2018. She was born in New York City and then spent her adult life in the Washington DC area and Daytona Beach, FL.

Dot's life was filled with being of service to her family, friends, and community. An active volunteer throughout her life, some highlights include her leadership to raise funds for the addition of an elevator for the Florida Pelican Bay Community Center to assist elderly and disable patrons, countless hours at her local hospital, and contributing her knitted hats and booties for newborns at the hospital nursery. before retirement, she was a longtime employee of Royal Insurance.

Dot never met a stranger. She believed in handwritten notes and never forgot a birthday. Her favorite sayings were, "it could always be worse" and "this is the best day of my life". Always there for family and friends during happy times and difficult times, Dot was the one holding someone's hand in time of sickness, difficulty or end of life. She exemplified the true meaning of loving kindness to all she knew.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Sid Solomon, her identical twin sister, Marge Tanis (husband Phillip), brother Donald Rosset (wife Ruth), and her loving companion for ten years, George Hough. She is survived by her daughter, Reva-Jane, her son Jim and his wife Debi, her grandchildren and their husbands: Elizabeth and Pawel, Julie and Tyler, Krista and Will. She had five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
