Doris Hoff

October 15, 1920 — May 24, 2017

Doris V. Hoff, born on October 15, 1920 in Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. She was 96 years young. Doris attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1941. She was a life long Husker fan. She was also a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.

Doris married William Hoff on December 3, 1944 and became an Air Force wife. She worked for many years as a secretary for various base commanders. After her children were born, Doris became a full time wife and mom.

Doris was an avid gardener excellent seamstress, and enjoyed baking and cooking. She was extremely generous and used her sewing skills to support the Windcrest Angels. Doris also enjoyed watching University of Nebraska football, Spurs games, figure skating, and PGA golf tournaments. She loved dachshunds, and had many dachsie companions throughout her life in San Antonio.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband William; her brother Robert Voigt and his wife, Ruth; and by her parents, William and Haydee Voigt. Doris is survived by her son, Jeffrey Hoff and wife Donna; her daughter, Barbara Miller and husband, Michael, or "Mike-Mike," as Doris called him; grandson, Kevin Miller and his wife, Evie, and her great-grandchildren, Lexi, Zane, and Ryker Miller.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Universal City from 10:00 am-11:15 AM, with her "celebration of life" to begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 PM.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the doctors and nurses on the Oncology Floor and ICU at North East Baptist Hospital and to the Embrace Hospice nurses and staff for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Universal City for "Feed My Starving Children" or to any charity of your choice.
