Donna Kluckman
July 20, 1929 — August 20, 2010
On August 20, 2010, Donna Lorraine Kluckman went home to be with the Lord. She was reunited with her husband of 59 years Dean Kluckman on what would have been his 88th birthday. She had celebrated her 81st birthday one month earlier. Donna was born on July 20, 1929, in Eldorado, Oklahoma to James and Lorene Robbins. Her father was a rural mail carrier, first on horseback and later on motorbike. Her father died when she was 3 years old from injuries sustained in World War 1. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Lloyd Spruiell in Raymondville, Texas. Donna was a popular and beautiful high school cheerleader. That is where she met her future husband. Donna and Dean were married on June 1, 1951. They had five children: Steve, Beth, Karen, Lea Ann and Martha, who died in infancy. The Kluckman family moved to Levelland, Texas in 1956. Donna worked first at South Plains Junior College where she was heavily involved with international students activities. She then went to Levelland Independent School District where she worked at West Elementary and at Levelland Junior High. When they retired Donna and her husband spent ten years traveling the world. They visited Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and most of the 50 United States. Donna loved doing crafts. She was a gifted china painter and won awards for her work. For the past several years Donna had resided in Converse, Texas to be near her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Steve Kluckman of Dallas, daughter Beth and son-in-law Glen Hollowell of Converse, daughter Karen and son-in-law Bill Staton of Lubbock and daughter Lea Ann and son-in-law Eric Bainter of Seguin, Texas. She is also survived by her grandson Matt and granddaughter-in-law Carolyn Hollowell of Mansfield, grandson Dylan Staton of Lubbock, grandson Zachary Kluckman of New Mexico and granddaughter Robin Kluckman of Florida, great-grandchildren Mahren and Mahsen Hollowell, Krystin Sanchez and Jack Richison. Donna will be missed by her family and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
