CMSgt Donald Bruce Vest, USAF (Ret.), of Schertz, TX formally of Henryville, IN passed away on June 29, 2014 due to complications of a brief illness. Don dedicated 34 years to the United States Air Force then later retired from Civil Service. After his retirement, he became a member of the local chapter of the American Red Cross. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Vest; parents, Jesse and Lillie Vest; brothers, Marvin, Maurice and Kenneth Vest. Don will remain cherished in the memory of his loving daughters, Paula Jane Skeens and Sharon Kaye Moore; stepdaughter, Debra Pitts; stepson, Arlen Hicks; grandchildren, Michael Skeens, Matthew Skeens and Jason Young; step- grandchildren, David Hicks, Kenya Fugit and Kyle Pitts; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great step- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Vest; nieces, Mary McKinley, Ann Stickler, Brenda Parks, Diane Oaks and cousin, Bob Vest. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 8 2014 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 10:00AM at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with United States Air Force Honors. In lieu of flowers the Vest family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross Association, www.redcross.org/donate.
