Donald Lewis

Donald Gene Lewis, born on May 21, 1936, in Union, Missouri and passed away on November 19, 2019, in Schertz, Texas, at the age of 83. Don graduated from Union High School in 1954 and went directly into the Air Force for three and a half years. In 1961, he graduated from Southeast Missouri College and began working for the Social Security Administration. Donald started the TeleService Center for Social Security in Kansas City, Missouri in 1975. He retired from the Social Security Administration in 1991.

Don was known for his personal poems that he would write to each person that left his office. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Universal City at the time of his death.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ellen Lewis; and sister, Judy Homeyer. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jo Lewis of Schertz, Texas; daughter, Cindy (Robert) Henkel of Schertz, Texas; son, Craig ( Kelley) Lewis of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dave (Sarah) Henkel, Holley Lewis (Alex) Orth, Danielle Henkel, Hayley Lewis and Jacob Lewis; two great grandchildren , Landon and Peyton Henkel; brother, Charles (Mary) Lewis of St. Charles , Missouri; and sister, Sue Ritter of Kentucky.

Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Universal City.
