Donald Joe Cochran, 88 years old, left us peacefully on August 11, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on June 18, 1936, in Griffin, GA, Don was a man of remarkable character, known for his unwavering kindness and generosity, integrity, and his deep love for the Lord, family and friends. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord in his local church as deacon and Sunday School teacher. Don served our country honorably in the Air Force, retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sargent. Following his retirement, Don volunteered his time and energy with the local chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society where he was recognized for his leadership in preparing for and conducting the chapter meetings. In his spare time, he enjoyed an afternoon of golf, playing second base and shortstop on the base and church softball teams. Don loved entertaining his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with his card, coin, and magic tricks and always quick to have a joke to tell.
Don Cochran’s parents, Joseph and Ruby (Rivers) Cochran, and siblings, Jeanette Crocker and Kenneth Cochran proceeded him in death. Don is survived by Barbara (Brannon) Cochran, his high school sweetheart and wife of 67 years, his daughters and sons-in law Chris and Doug Rose (Haymarket, VA), Pam and Jim Bluhm (San Antonio, TX), and Lori and Mike Smith (Converse, TX), nine grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren who will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted. He touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
