Don Flint Newbury passed to eternal life Friday, April 19, 2019, at the age of 56.
Flint was born in San Antonio, Texas August 3, 1962, to Don and Norma Newbury.
He lived his entire life in San Antonio, on historical property of the Wurzbach and Eisenhauer families next to Ft. Sam Houston. He was a 1980 graduate of Judson High School. He attended San Antonio College and Texas Lutheran University.
Flint worked most recently with Lynwood Building Materials Inc. Previous employment included Prime Rentals and San Antonio Brake and Clutch. He was most active in the Eisenhauer Brothers Ranch at Charlotte, Tx. Flint was a manager of trophy deer hunts and hunted with many friends and family across South Texas and Mexico.
Flint was quick to befriend you and especially enjoyed bringing new friends into the groups of people he knew. He enjoyed preparing food and was rarely without an ice chest of sandwich meat, beverages and deer jerky made from the family recipe.
Flint was focused on living a purposeful life following an accident that left him a quadriplegic six and a half years ago. Many friends he had made during his lifetime came together to help transport him to doctors, physical therapy and hunting at the ranch once again.
He was preceded in death by his father Don Newbury, Grandparents, George and Tillie Eisenhauer and Grandparents, Fred and Elizabeth Newbury.
Flint is survived by his loving wife Zoila of twenty-five years who served as his faithful caregiver for the last six and a half years; his mother Norma Newbury, sister Dusti Newbury, step-son Jordan Espinoza, close friends John Borgmann and Elda Hernandez, and many Judson classmates and co-workers. Special thanks to daily caregiver Yolanda Cisneros.
"Friends of Flint", a group of people, who with the families of Robert Stuart and Brian Potts conducted four fundraisers to assist with medical expenses. Flint and Zoila were able to face difficult times with the monies raised.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Memory of Don Flint Newbury to Friends of Flint, Humane Society of San Antonio or Beyond the Chair.org via their websites.
A memorial service is set for Friday, April 26, 2019, at Schertz Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. A reception for friends and family will be held at the Norma Newbury home immediately following the service. Address and directions will be provided at the funeral home.
