Don Newbury, life-long resident San Antonio, 84, passed from this life at his home on Thursday, March 17, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents US Army Major (ret) Fred L and Elizabeth Newbury, of San Antonio. He is survived by his wife Norma Newbury (nee Eisenhauer); daughter Dusti Newbury; son Don Flint Newbury and wife Zoila, her son Jordan Espinoza all of San Antonio; his brother Tom Newbury and wife Sharon of Bedford; nephews, nieces, numerous cousins and friends.
Don was an athlete at San Antonio Brackenridge HS, lettering in football. He went on to graduate from Trinity University, also lettering in football, after serving in the US Air Force. He was employed at Sears for 20 years, and then operated his own business in construction. His passion was the sport of racing homing Pigeons for over 70 years, receiving many awards and honors while making life-long friends. An
Outdoorsman, Don enjoyed hunting dove, quail, and deer.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:45, Monday, March 28th, 2016 at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, Pastor Ron Windecker officiating. Please check the post directory for the pavilion on the day of the service.
