Domineck Don Messina of Schertz, Texas was born August 8, 1926 and passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the age of 85. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo and Nellie Messina. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Messina; children, Donna Barker, Ben Messina, Scott Messina and wife, Denise; grandchildren, Melinda Young and fiance, Ross Dye, Philip Messina and wife, Sarah, Daniel Messina, Joel Messina, John Messina, Mariah Messina, Katie Messina; great-grandchildren, Richard Westley Barker and Makayla Young; brothers, Felix Messina and wife, Mary, Sam Messina and wife, Theresa; sister, Josephine Messina and husband, Sam. Don retired after 20 years in the United States Air Force and then was employed for seven years with the U. S. Postal Service. Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 1:00PM with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
