Dolores Edwards

Dolores Dolly Edwards age 79, died Friday evening December 4, 2009. Dolly was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by Carroll Condon and her husband Johnny; Kim Botten and Lowie Van Diest; Randy Edwards, and Rodney Edwards and his wife, Phyllis. Dolly also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emmett Botten and Mel Edwards; daughter, Cathy Coronado and grandson, Michael Edwards. Dolly had innumerable accomplishments in her personal life and throughout her career. She worked hard and always strived to do her best, be it in the SCUCISD cafeterias or calling Bingo for the VFW. She was generous with both time and money working with such organizations as Paralyzed Veterans, Shriner Childrens Hospitals, Voice of Democracy, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and most recently, BAMC Fisher House and many more. She gave regular donations to those causes that she was unable to give her time to such as St. Jude's, Children's Miracle Network, and Wounded Warrior Project among other charities. Lastly, she will be remembered for her tireless commitment to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. For over 40 years she worked in some capacity, from managing the bar to District President for the Ladies Auxiliary, holding various other offices throughout her tenure. Visitation will be held December 10, 2009 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held December 11, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. at Schertz Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:45 a.m.
