D.C. Morgan went to be his heavenly Father on January 1, 2017 surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by two sons, Ricky and Jamie Morgan; his parents, Clinton and Christine Morgan; two sisters, Maxine Baird and Netty Mae Wallace; and two brothers, Sammy Lee Morgan and Charles L. Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ada Lee; sons, David and wife Cindy, Bruce and wife Nancy; daughter, Teri Smith and husband John; grandchildren, Mary Morgan, Ricky Smith, Alyssa Riggan and husband Ben, Samuel Morgan; and great granddaughter, Caroline Faith Riggan. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Richard Baird and numerous other family members and friends. D.C. was born in Water Valley, Mississippi on May 19, 1930. As a young man, he helped his family on their farm and loved to play football. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and met his wife while stationed at Vance AFB in Enid, Oklahoma. They married at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Dec. 9, 1951. While in Enid, they had their first child, David, before being transferred to Morocco, North Africa. While there, Bruce, their second child was born. After they returned to the states, Ricky and Teri, were born while stationed in Wichita Falls. After a brief transfer to the Pentagon in Washington DC, he was stationed at Randolph AFB. Their fifth child, Jamie, was born at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio. D.C. was sent to Vietnam in the early 70's before returning to Randolph to finish his 29½ year career at AFMPC.He was very active in his church serving as a Deacon, on several pastor search committees, and chairman of Building and Grounds Committee. He also was instrumental in starting the Buffalo Valley Lions Club in Schertz and initiating the Teen Dance for the 5th and 6th graders in Schertz. For many years, he also assisted with the annual Muscular Dystrophy Telethon in San Antonio, making sure that all the volunteers had plenty to eat during the 24 hour broadcast. He and Ada began serving along side their son, David, on an annual mission trip to Lasara, TX. He loved the people there and served them for the last 10 years. During his 86 years on earth, D.C. loved a lot of things. He loved his family and enjoyed taking them on vacations. He loved a good high school football game and going on cruises. For many years, he enjoyed deer hunting-even the years when the only thing he brought home was a cold!! He loved taking a nap almost everyday. He loved his garden and tinkering in the garage. He loved being silly with the kids at church or hauling kids on a big yellow school bus. Many days, he could be found watching westerns on TV and reading his newspaper from front to back. Mostly, D.C. loved the Lord and loved sharing that with people. Our family takes great comfort knowing that he is now fully healed and spending his time strolling around in heaven meeting up with all of his family and friends. He has left a great legacy of faith.Viewing will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Schertz. His service will be January 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. also at First Baptist Church. He will be buried in Pond Creek, Oklahoma on Friday, January 6, 2017.
