Delmar Heine

SMSgt Delmar Dale Heine, USAF (Ret.), born on June 7, 1940, passed away on February 23, 2014, at the age of 73. Senior Master Sergeant Heine entered the United States Air Force at Fargo, North Dakota on September 4, 1958. Tours of duties included, Vietnam, Germany, United Kingdom, where he met his current wife, Jenny, and numerous locations in the United States. He retired at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ on June 30, 1985. During his distinguished military career, Delmar was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 3 devices, AF Commendation Medal with 1 device, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and 5 devices, AF Organizational Excellence Award, Combat Readiness Medal with 4 devices, AF Good Conduct Medal with 7 devices, Army Good Conduct Medal and the Nation Defense Medal. After retirement from the United States Air Force in 1985, Delmar went to work for Saudi Airlines, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as an flight training instructor. Delmar instructed many airline flight engineers and numerous Saudi princes on aircraft instrumentation and layout. Upon his return to the United States in 1997, Delmar and his wife made Schertz, Texas their home. Never one to be idle, Delmar, went to work for Evergreen Aviation Ground Logistics Enterprises, as a supervisor, were he worked for a number of years. Wanting a new adventure, Delmar applied for and was accepted as an agent for the Transportation Security Administration at the San Antonio International Airport. He retired from that position in 2012, to pursue his hobbies of gardening, traveling and reading anything to do with aviation. His parents, Emil and Alma Heine preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Jenny; children, Melody Cusson and her husband, David, Rusty Heine and his wife, Stacy, Tonia Bennett and her husband, Ross, Dusty Heine and his wife, Cissy; step-children, Paul, Mark, Donna and Lisa Savage; grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, and Carleigh Cusson, Jeremy, Zack, and Samantha Heine; step-granddaughter, Lillie Crawley. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 4:00PM - 7:00PM, with a Memorial Service to begin at 6:00PM, at Schertz Funeral Home, Pastor V. W. Welshans officiating. All services will conclude in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Program or a charity of your choice.
