David Tracey

October 6, 1943 — September 26, 2018

David J. Tracey, born on October 6, 1943, was called to rest and be at peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 26, 2018. In life he was loved dearly by many friends and family. It broke our hearts to lose him, but we are comforted in the knowledge that he will no longer suffer and will be welcomed by those who have gone before him.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Irma F. Tracey, his parents, Thomas and Lucille Tracey, his brothers, Michael and Thomas Tracey and his sister, Rosalee Tracey.

Although, David was born in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, where he did serve as a peace officer, he lived and raised his family in San Antonio, Texas. He did, however, continue the tradition of being a proud and devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also served in the United States Army 73rd Field Artillery Regiment in his younger years and traveled all over the United States as a truck driver later in his life. He loved to spend his leisure time planting and making beautiful wood canes and walking sticks.

He is survived by three loving daughters; Clara Guerrero, Nancy Griff, and Michelle Salazar; eight grandchildren; Cezar Trinidad, Ryan Griff, Estevan Guerrero, Mari Elle Guerrero, Marissa Aguilera-Salazar, Antonio Salazar, Isabella Salazar, and Elysia Salazar; two great-grandchildren; Ariana Sanchez and Carina Sanchez; three son-in-laws, Rigoberto Guerrero, Paul Griff and Albert Salazar.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 5PM-8PM, at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX, 78154. A Memorial Service will be on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 1PM-3PM, at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX 78266. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Prevent Cancer Foundation in honor of David J. Tracey @ preventcancer.org.
