David Slater

August 12, 1957 — May 30, 2011

David C. Slater, age 53 of Schertz, TX, passed away on May 30, 2011. David is preceded in death by his father, Charles Slater. He is survived by his wife, Susan Slater of Schertz, TX; mother, Suzanne Slater of Reno, NV; sons, Michael (age 22) and Marc and Matthew Slater (age 17) and sisters, Christina Slater Reeder of Dallas, TX and Carolyn Slater Littlehale of Reno, NV. David was a Captain in the Air Force at the Space Division in L.A. He had his PH.D. in Astro-Physics from Stanford University. David worked as a Principal Scientist in the Space Sciences Division at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, TX. His interests included astronomy, geology, hiking, backpacking, camping, skiing and international travels. Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM (with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM) on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Conor McGrath as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Selma # 2 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: CTRC at UT Health Science Center, Office of Development, MC 7835, 7703 Floyd Curl Dr, San Antonio, Texas, 78229-3900.
