David John Leach passed away peacefully at his home on August 30, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 83 years old. David was born on September 12, 1939 in Washington DC to Willie Clark Leach and Grace Mae Goodale. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Anita Jeanette Leach.
David had a long and esteemed career in the United States Air Force where he reached the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, scuba diving, and traveling. He loved sharing these experiences with his family. He traveled all around the world and had visited all 50 states. David also loved planes and would amaze his children and grandchildren with his ability to identify any plane.
David is survived by his brother Willie “Bill” Clark Leach and sister Lois Jean Ryan. He is also survived by his three sons and their spouses David John Leach Jr. (Linda), Eric James Leach (Audrey) and William Clark Leach (Anisa), five grandchildren Tanya Rae Easterling (William), Brandon James Maese (Jessica), Michael James Leach, Matthew David Leach, and Amber Marie Leach, and two great grandchildren Uriel Hiro Maese and Celestia Persephone Maese.
David will be honored in a Memorial Service at 10:00AM on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Schertz Funeral Home. Following the service, we will reconvene at 1:15PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery - Shelter 2- for full military honors and interment.
In lieu of flowers the family recommends supporting the Michael J. Fox Foundation’s efforts to find a cure for Parkinson's disease.
