David Anthony Cruz, 56, passed away on October 2, 2011 at Yokosuka Municipal Uwamachi Hospital in Yokosuka City, Japan. David was born on February 2, 1955 in Warrington, Cheshire England. He graduated from Alexandria High School in Alexandria, LA, in 1973, where he was a fullback on the football team, 2 year letterman and a part of the wrestling and track teams. David joined the United States Air Force when he graduated from High School and he served his country proudly for 4 years. David resided and worked as an Electronics Technician in the US and several countries including Santa Barbara, CA, West Virginia, Philippines, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Topeka, KS, Davis, NC and Japan. David was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel C. Cruz and maternal grandmother, Clarice (Gran) Bland. David is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Rachel (Juilin) Cruz; son, Charlie Huang Cruz; daughter, Noel Chen Cruz; mother, Audrey Cruz of Alexandria, LA; sisters, Susan Cruz Groenwoldt of Vero Beach, FL, Carol Cruz of Vero Beach, FL; brother, Richard Cruz & wife, Danette of Alexandria, LA; nephews, Edward Groenwoldt, Ryan Cruz; nieces, Kristi Groenwoldt, Alexa Cruz and grand-nephew, Jayden Edward. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Selma Cemetery # 1.
