Daniel Craig Imholte

February 23, 1957 — May 26, 2024

Selma

Daniel Craig Imholte, age 67, of Selma, TX, passed away on May 26th, 2024 after a lengthy battle with diabetes and heart complications, he was surrounded by his family.

Dan was born on February 23rd, 1957 to Henry and Marylin Imholte in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was the 5th of 9 siblings.

Dan would meet Brenda in 1969 who would later became the love of his life. Dan and Brenda wed in 1984 and had 3 children: Josh, Brandon, and Ashley.

Dan completed up to the 10th grade in high school. His passion for baking led him to leave school early to pursue a career in baking. He had a deep love for sports cars, and full time work helped to fuel the passion he had for cars. It was through working in bakeries and forming friendships that he met Brenda. Brenda’s dad, Ray and mom, Patricia, who also worked in the bakery business became another set of encouraging parents. They further amplified Dan’s skills to excel in the bakery industry. Dan eventually moved from working in bakeries to owning 2 different bakery businesses with his wife Brenda. He then moved onto Bakery Sales, where he flourished, often as a top salesman working for various companies and finishing his career as a salesman with Johnson Brothers Bakery Supply.

Dan’s other love outside of his family was the Minnesota Vikings. Growing up in Minnesota, he fell in love with the team and brought that love down to Texas where it trickled down to his children, grandchildren, and those around him. Family, food, and football are very intertwined in the Imholte household. Football is a way we created family gatherings. Every Sunday, family would be welcome at Dan and Brenda’s house to watch the Vikings play. Each week was an opportunity for someone to try out a new recipe, or bring an old favorite like Wally’s famous chicken noodle soup that Dan could eat for a week straight. This is Dan’s legacy, family football Sundays that will be passed on to his wife, children, and loved ones around him to carry the torch. To gather, to watch, and to grow together on football Sundays, for Dan’s loving memory. Also known on Football Sundays as Big D, Big Pappa Pump, Hoss, Jimmy, Jimbo, Monty, Dad, Daddy, Pops, Didi, and Gramps.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Brenda; sons Josh and Brandon; daughter Ashley; their spouses Nancy, Laura, and Anthony; grandchildren Dakota, Kalee, Bentley, Catalina, Abigail, Johnny, and Gwen; sister Pamela; and brothers Kevin, Richard, Joel, and Chris. He was preceded by his parents Henry and Marilyn; sisters Dianne and Sandra; and brother David.

Viewing will be on the day of funeral service, Saturday, June 1st at 10am. The funeral service will follow at 11am, followed by a reception with more details at the service. Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home, and a link on his obituary website will allow you to send flowers if you wish. To honor our dad, we would love it if you wore your favorite Minnesota Vikings gear to the funeral service if you’ve got it.
