Daniel Almond

Lt Col Daniel "Danny" Lee Almond, United States Air Force (Ret.), passed away on October 14, 2014, at the age of 72. He was born to Wilbur and Helen Almond, on December 8, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas. Danny joined the United States Air Force, in 1960, where he faithfully served 35 years before retiring. While in service, he received a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma State University and a Master's Degree at the University of Arizona. After retirement in 1995, Daniel went to work as a consultant for Lucent Technology until 2003. Daniel loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fixing radios and televisions but his true passion was computers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Helen Almond. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ada Almond; daughters, Amy Almond Laechelin of Belize and Frances D. Gaddy of Round Rock, Texas; sisters, Patricia Fuller, Cassandra McClennen and Mary Frances Gore; and grandsons, Travis and Marshall Laechelin, along with many other family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with United States Air Force honors, to follow at 11:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
