Dan Deckert

April 6, 1957 — July 29, 2017

Dan Deckert Sr. was born on April 6, 1957 and passed away on July 29, 2017 at the age of 60. He graduated from McCollum High School in 1975. Went on to attend Texas A&M University and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1980. Married his high school sweetheart on August 6, 1977. Spent the last 35 years working for Zachry Holdings, Inc., where he was well loved.
He joined his father Edward Deckert Sr. and his granddaughter Angel Mary Stai in heaven. He is waiting to be joined by his mother Martha Deckert, his wife Phyllis Deckert, his children Dan Deckert Jr. (DJ) and wife Christy Deckert, Christopher Deckert (Chris) and wife Jenna Deckert, and his beloved daughter Alisha Stai (Sassy) and husband Jacob Stai. His grandchildren Alek Ray Deckert, Brendyn Thomas Deckert, Eleyna Beth Deckert, and Emmalynn Michelle Deckert. Brother Edward Deckert Jr. (Butch) and wife Teri Deckert. As well as multiple nieces and nephews.
He was a scout leader and a deacon in his church. He was always working on some project in his garage. He was always there when needed and had a way of showing up at just the right time. He was such a soft spoken man who had a presence of love around him. He was so proud of all his children and his grandchildren were his world. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Visitation will be held from 5-9PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel, with Graveside Services following at Salem Cemetery in Atkins, Texas.
