Cynthia Kay Volker

April 13, 1956 — October 29, 2024

Cynthia Duguid Volker (Cynthia Kay Ferrell), 68, was born on April 13, 1956, in Lubbock, Texas, and passed away on October 29, 2024, in Schertz, Texas.

Known for her quick wit, boundless generosity, and unforgettable catchphrases – like “just peachy” and “love you more”- Cynthia was a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her warmth, laughter, and unique sense of humor left an indelible mark on family, friends, and her community.

The heart and light of Cynthis’s life were her children and grandchildren. As a single mother, her fierce devotion to her children left and impact that will be cherished forever. – David Duguid (Wife Adrienne), Lindsay Duguid Taulton (Husband Bo), and Jonathan Duguid (Wife Debbie) – was the foundation of her legacy. Cynthia’s deepest love was for her family, and she found her greatest joy in her grandchildren: Declan, Elleanna and Deacon Harrison; Dylan, Ainesley, Fulton, Kolbe, and Lucy Duguid. It was her first grandchild who inspired her to turn her life around; she became sober 19 years ago, a journey of resilience that transformed her life and the lives of those closest to her.

Cynthia’s life expanded with her husband, Michael Volker. She embraced his family as her own, including her stepchildren; Amy Enright (Husband Arthur) and Shannon Volker, and their children Silas Enright, Jasmine Joiner, and Johnathan Joiner. Her loving spirit extended further to her surrogate family, Bob and Sandy Jackson, and their daughters, Cassandra Massie and Menda Lippe. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law, JoAnna Volker, and Cynthia's brother, Daniel Ferrell (Wife Mary Jo).

Known for her outspoken, generous nature, Cynthia was the best at choosing thoughtful gifts, and her eye rolls spoke volumes. She embraced any opportunity to celebrate and was happiest when dressed for the occasion, spoiling her grandchildren, and spending time with those she loved.

Cynthia forgave easily, loved unconditionally, and had a special gift for making friends in unexpected ways. She was dearly cherished by her extended family at Northeast Independent School District and among the vendors and visitors at Fredericksburg Trade Days.

Cynthia found peace near the water, whether fishing or visiting the beach, a love that began in her childhood fishing in Amarillo, Texas. Her life was a testament to strength, resilience, and boundless love, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. In her own words, “I’m glad you got to see me.”
