Constance (Connie) Marie Auten went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2020 at the age of 81 while surrounded by family. Connie was born January 4th, 1939 to John and Margaret Finn in Fremont, Ohio. She attended Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Connie spent her working years as a fashion merchandiser and teen board coordinator at Hudson’s department store in Detroit Michigan.
She married Robert William Auten on September 19th, 1964 in Grosse Pointe Farms Michigan. During their marriage they lived in various cities in Tennessee, California and Texas. Seven years ago, she moved to San Antonio to be near family.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Catherine and John Raleigh Finn, her Aunt Marie, Uncle Malcom Starkloff and nephew Jacob Fase. Connie is survived by her loving husband Robert, her two daughters; Brooke, Paige and their spouses, her four grandchildren; Lauren, Julia, Aidan, and Chiara, and her two sisters, Patricia (Patty) and Margaret (Peggy).
She was a devout Catholic and member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. Connie was kind and caring, most remembered for her love for her family and her many dogs. She had an incredible sense of style and loved throwing dinner parties (she was an amazing cook). She enjoyed playing bingo, attending Jazz Fest, watching Days of our Lives and her favorite sporting teams, and a strong Manhattan. Connie touched many lives with her vivacious personality and will be truly missed by all who loved her.
The family would like to express gratitude to the wonderful help and care given by University Hospital’s doctors and staff. A memorial in her honor is being planned with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to: Heart or Lung association.
Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.
