Connie Riley
June 6, 1940 — September 24, 2015
Mrs. Connie Sue Riley, age 75 of San Antonio, peacefully went home to be with our Father on Sept 24, 2015 after a courageous and short battle with cancer with her family right by her side. Connie was born June 6, 1940 in Uhrichsville, Ohio. She joined the United States Air Force in 1958 and was stationed at McGuire AFB, New Jersey where she served as a finance and accounting specialist until she later married and had children. Connie spent several years as a manager at Budget Rent a Car and an accountant at the Sonterra Country Club. She later became a leading Avon representative in San Antonio, receiving numerous awards and accolades for her business acumen, top sales and longtime customers/friends. Connie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, Nona and friend to all, and always put others before herself. She lived her life through faith and family and had the most generous, loving heart, touching so many lives with just her presence. Her greatest joy, and most important part of her life, was being with her family. She never missed a family event and could "hang with the best of them"--whether tubing down the Comal river, mountain climbing in Hawaii or playing dominos until 3:00 in the morning. She loved reading, traveling, testing her luck at the casinos, and was the biggest San Antonio Spurs fan. Connie is preceded in death by her parents Dario and Wilma Manini of Uhrichsville, Ohio and first husband, Joseph Hendrix of San Antonio. She is survived by her loving husband of 4 years, Francis Riley, brother Gary Manini, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Christine Hendrix; daughter and son-in-law Tina and David Acosta; grandchildren Stefanie (Dominic) Adams, Heather (Jeremy) Kylen, and Tristan (Rhianna) Hendrix and seven great grandchildren. The family will hold a memorial service on Monday, 5 October 2015, from 10:00-10:30 am at the Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM3009, Schertz, TX 78154, followed by a private family graveside service at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/index in support of pancreatic cancer research. Mailing address is: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
