Retired United States Air Force Colonel Henry (Hank) L. Ezelle, Jr., passed away at the age of 83 on Thursday, February 16, 2012, following a lengthy illness in San Antonio, Texas. Hank was born January 6, 1929, in Newton, Mississippi to Henry Lloyd and Bessie Madlock Ezelle. After graduation from the University of Southern Mississippi, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attended flight school at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. He then attended officer training school in Florida, where he met his wife, Mary Ann. Following a fulfilling career of twenty-four years in the Air Force, he retired with the rank of Colonel at Randolph Air Force Base and soon joined the staff of the Judson Independent School District as a Biology teacher. He continued his career with the school district and retired as head of the Biology Department. Following his retirement, he took great pride in tending to his yard, spending time with his family, and he had a passion for animals and took a personal interest in any stray that came across his path. Every weekend in the fall, he followed football whether it was his grandson's games, college or professional games. Hank is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Ann Ezelle and son, Brian of Universal City, Texas; son, Brent and wife Tracey and grandson, Garrett Ezelle of Fort Worth, Texas; younger brother, Harold and wife, Thedra Ezelle of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside service honoring his life will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
