Col. Vivian

Colonel Lawrence E. Vivian, Texas State Guard, age 80 of Cibolo, passed away January 18, 2009. He was born to Otho Dee Vivian, Sr. & Signe Olivia (Nordberg) Vivian 0n July 3, 1928. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Helena Vivian of Cibolo; son, Bill David Vivian of Eugene, Oregon; daughter, Sandra Conner of Spokane, Washington; brothers, Otho Dee Vivian, Jr. of Hayward, California and Ernest Clarence Vivian of Gonzales, Texas; nieces; nephews; additional relatives and dear friends. Lawrence served his Country with Pride serving briefly in the U.S. Army, retiring as a SMSgt. from the U.S. Air Force and completing his military career in the Texas State Guard where he rose to the rank of Colonel. He served during the Korean War and fought for our Country in Vietnam. Lawrences career took him not only throughout the United States, but to Laos, Cambodia and Japan. His jobs included work with the Security Police and teaching in the Personnel Management division. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM (with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM) on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Schertz Funeral Home. Graveside Services, with full military honors, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
