Clyde Weikert

March 12, 1930 — May 15, 2010

Clyde W. Weikert, (Retired MSgt, USAF) of McQueeney, entered into rest May 15, 2010 at the age of 80. Clyde was born to Luther and Sarah (Wise) Weikert on March 12, 1930 in Williamsport, PA. He is survived by two daughters, Tracy Weikert Garcia and husband Charles, Kelly Weikert Buehl and husband Barry, one son, Michael Weikert, seven grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, two sisters, brother, and a niece. Clyde enjoyed a successful military career proudly serving his country in the Korean War and during Vietnam. He was an active member of the community throughout his life, volunteering his time as a Red Cross swimming instructor, Boy Scout leader, and as a former Live Oak City Councilman. Up until his passing, he was a faithful blood donor, dedicated McQueeney volunteer fireman and VFW Trustee. Clyde had many friends and never met a stranger. Most of all, he enjoyed and loved his family deeply. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Schertz Funeral Home with the Memorial Service following at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at 11:00 AM with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his honor to the McQueeney Volunteer Fire Department.
