Col. Clovis C. Haddock USAF (Ret) died on September 17, 2016 in Schertz, Texas. Col. Haddock was born September 28, 1930 in Clovis, New Mexico. He graduated from high school in Kemp, Oklahoma, college at Southeastern State in Durant, Oklahoma and earned his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Auburn University.
Col. Haddock joined the Air Force in 1952 and spent the next twenty-eight years serving his country at duty stations from coast to coast as well as in Europe and Asia. A diverse array of challenging assignments highlighted his career. He served at the Pentagon as an Executive Officer to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Programs and Resources (DCS), Headquarters USAF. He spent four years at SHAPE in Belgium (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in the Office of the Scientific Advisor to SACEUR (the commander at SHAPE). He also served at SAC headquarters as Deputy Director of Missile Operations for the Strategic Air Command. Col. Haddock graduated from the Air Command and Staff College as well as The Air War College and received numerous awards and commendations during his career including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award and the National Defense Service Medal.
After retiring in 1980, Col. Haddock had successful careers in real estate and securities, but nothing brought him the joy or fulfillment that he found in the Air Force.
He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his family. His passion for his country and politics showed in his enjoyment of spirited debates.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne Haddock, his daughters, Debbie Wallis (Earl) and Sena Mathues, his grandchildren, Melanie Martin (Scott), Scott Capoot, Jessica Goodman (Randy), Curtis Haddock (April), Jill Haddock, Hayley Mathues, Ally Mathues and Nate Mathues, and his great-grandchildren, Caroline Martin and Jonah Haddock as well a large extended family who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joel Curtis Haddock and Josie Miranda Carnes Haddock, his brother, Wyman Haddock, his sister, Margie Haddock Watson, and his son, Clovis Curtis Haddock, Jr.
A Memorial Service will be held in Durant, Oklahoma at 10 AM on October 1, 2016 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer research association of your choice.
