Cleberson Rodrigues

August 7, 1985 — February 2, 2010

Cleberson Ferreira Rodrigues passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in Schertz, Texas. Cleber was born on August 7, 1985, in Rondonopolis, Moto Groso, Brazil. Young and talented, with the burning passion of an artist, we are grieving the passing of a bright star that lit up our lives. We will miss those eyes, his hugs, his laugh with that big smile of his. He will be remembered for his honesty and intensity. He was known as a sweet, kind, intelligent, gentle, strong, compassionate young man. His heart was huge for his friends, newly adopted family, Brazil, and the United States. He loved his God. He loved his time in worship, meditation, and prayer at Madison Square Presbyterian Church in San Antonio and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma. He was an accomplished soccer player having played semi-pro soccer in Brazil and was planning on playing at the university level. As a DJ, he used his rare talent to change the face of Electro/House/Techno in the Brazilian dance scene and his music lives on. This passion (forca), this intensity, that drove Cleber to be special, haunted him as with many young artists. We, the hundreds of friends that loved him, can find solace in our tears that there is no more pain for him. Cleber graduated high school from the La Salle School in Rondonopolis. He attended university in Rondonopolis, studying agronomy. He studied English in 2007 and 2009 at the Texas Intensive English Program in Austin, TX. He was planning to attend university and study business and government. He loved music, soccer, friends in the United States, Brazil, and his friends from across the world he met at the English language program. He loved his family and his adopted families in Brazil and Texas. Cleberson is survived by his father, mother, and brother, Dilson Rodrigues, Luzimar Ferreira Rodrigues, and Paulo Henrique Rodrigues, 19, all of Rondonopolis, MT, Brazil. His adopted family, David J. Harris of Schertz, Stephen, Elizabeth, Taylor, and Reece Harris of Fredericksburg, and Joel Joseph Harris and Diana Humphreys Harris of San Antonio; his friends in Brazil including Hugo Zanetti of President Prudente, SP, Brazil. He will be greatly missed by other dear friends including Steve Craddock of Austin, TX, and Miles City, MT, and Larry Chancy of Phoenix. Services will be Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. 16075 North Evans Road, (intersection of I-35 and Evans Road/Cibolo Creek), Selma, Texas: Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. with reception to follow at an alternate location. Interment arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Schertz Youth Soccer Alliance or Our Lady of Perpetual Help Youth Ministries.
