Clara Phillips

November 14, 1914 — March 7, 2010

Clara Masanna Phillips was born November, 14, 1914 to John William Phillips and Nellie Edna Wood in Paris, Texas. Clara led a wonderful life of 95 years giving a gift of love to many before passing peacefully in her home on March 7, 2010. While Clara was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, she is survived by nephews, James Phillips and John Phillips and niece, Ella Faye West. Clara is also survived by an abundant host of friends who became her family while she resided at Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge in Schertz, Texas for the past 35 years. Clara lived life to the fullest and never wanted for anything; her best friend, Joy DeKock, made sure of that. Clara knew that life should be fun and lived it that way everyday by playing bingo on cards with the number 15, going out to eat at Sambos and Lubys, going shopping at Winns in downtown Schertz, caressing babies, cuddling tiny kittens and puppies, and giving bear hugs that never left you without a doubt that you were loved. An expression of immense gratitude is given to all the staff of Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge who provided such tender care for and gave love to Clara during the 35 years she resided there. A memorial service is being held at Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge, 3301 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge.
