Clara Jefferson

Clara Kacal Jefferson, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Clara was born on December 6, 1921, on the family farm in Taiton, Texas, to Marie Naiser and Adolph J. Kacal. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Edward Ted Jefferson, sister Martha Triska, and brother George Kacal. Clara is survived by her daughter, Shirley Cotton & husband, Jerry; son Billy Simmons; sisters Lily Hawes and Emily Maloch, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nanny will be sadly missed but remembered fondly by grandchildren Amy Cotton Seibert & husband Kelly; Julie Cotton; Aubrey Simmons Jeannerete & husband Mike; Katherine Simmons and Amanda Hickey; great-grandchildren Emily, William, Lily and Henry Seibert, Morgan and Jordan Jeannerete. Clara retired after 27 years from Victoria Bank and Trust in Victoria, where she worked in commercial lending, trust and investments, and public relations. She was also a long-time member of ABWA, for which she proudly served as an officer. Claras culinary skills were legendary, especially the baking of strudel and kolaches. After her retirement, she and Ted moved to San Antonio where Clara enjoyed making a new circle of friends: the Wednesday Lubys group, Teds Oak Hills and TGIF golfing friends, Leon Valley Senior Citizens, and Friday Breakfast Club. The family expresses sincere thanks for the loving care provided by the wonderful staff of Dominion Home Health Services and Vitas Hospice Care. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 27 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes, Texas 78023 with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North under the auspices of Schertz Funeral Home.
