Schertz,
Cheryl Mead Starr, 59, of St Hedwig, Texas, went to be with her Lord on February 23, 2018 after a long battle with lung cancer.
Cheryl was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 12, 1958 to David Russell Mead, Jr. and Faye Dell (Salzman) Mead. She was born into a very close knit family, including her grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. She would later raise her children in the same fashion.
She married her devoted husband, Stephen O. Starr on April, 24th 1982 in San Antonio, Texas. Their two children, Kevin and Stephanie, made a total of 5 children and she loved them all. Our family and extended family have always been very close and she played a big role in that.
She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1976 where she was a member of the marching band and a majorette. She got her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Texas in San Antonio and her CPA certification. She was a proud employee of the Coca Cola Bottling Company of the Southwest for 28 years and later with ISS Facility Services. She was an active member of Grace Bible Church in La Vernia, Texas.
Cheryl loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel on car trips or cruises and especially camping at the national and state parks. Cheryl enjoyed attending productions at the Majestic Theater, working jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, going to the movies and garage sales. Through her husband Steve, she was a member of the Shriners RV Club, Alzafar Nemnufs and Shriner Hillbillies.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 35 years, Stephen Starr; their children, Stephanie Starr (Jason Anders), Kevin Starr, Noah Starr, Patric (Megan) Starr, and Craig (Iris) Starr; her grandchildren, Brody Starr, Joy Arismendez, James, Declan and Mckenna Starr, Jacob and Jessalyn Anders; her mother, Faye Dell Mead; sister, Bambie Mead (Donald Specht); brother, Patrick R Mead; father-in-law Alfred Starr (Betty Reynolds); and brother-in-law, David (Nancy) Starr. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews and their children and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, David R Mead, Jr. and her mother-in-law, Lucille Starr.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Schertz Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, March 1, 2018 the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel on 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas.
Cheryl asked that this be a Celebration of her Life and her graduation to her new life in Heaven in the loving care of our Lord and Savior. She asked that people wear colorful clothes and tell happy stories and share fond memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Cheryl's memory may be made to:
