Cheryl Lambert, 71 passed away Saturday. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 8 at 3pm at the family’s home.
Cheryl Lynn Smalley Lambert, was born in New Castle Indiana. She is the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (King) Smalley. Cheryl attended Straughn High School in Straughn, Indiana. After high school she served in the US Army for two years until 1978. In (1982) she married her longtime friend Terry Lambert. Terry and his children moved to Texas where they fell in love with the Hill Country scenic views. She was an employee of the United States Postal Service for 31 years, and she worked behind the scenes of a post office repairing machinery. She later became an instructor for the Postal Service. This job moved the family to Oklahoma and also allowed her to travel all over the United States, and her husband Terry often came with. Her favorite places to visit were Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Ohio (she said they were the friendliest people). As Terry and Cheryl started thinking about retirement, they knew they needed to return to those Hill Country views. Terry moved back to Texas to build their dream home and commuted to Oklahoma. Soon after, Cheryl had a job opportunity in San Antonio and moved back also. She retired in 2012. She and Terry continued to love their Hill Country views. Terry and Cheryl were married for 37 years. She loved Terry with every breath in her body and missed him terribly after he passed.
Cheryl enjoyed reading, shopping, playing card games, collecting coins, crocheting, and knitting. If you were ever gifted a skier blanket, pull it out and give it a squeeze; she loves you. She loved her family and friends and serving God. She adored cats and was a cat owner for most of her life. She is leaving behind Mia, Gizmo, Dolly, and her dog Bella.
Her loss was unexpected, but she had a beautiful welcome home party, including many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins, her husband Terry, her parents Ralph and Gladys (King) Smalley, and her brother Keith Smalley. Cheryl is survived by her daughter Jessica Lambert (Oklahoma), her sister Melanie (Smalley) Holster (Schertz), and her grandchildren Madeleine, Abigail, and Tabitha Joshi.
