Charlotte Armstrong
February 21, 1923 — June 21, 2008
Charlotte L. Armstrong was born February 21, 1923 and peacefully left this world on June 21, 2008. She was 85 years and four months old, and was preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Nina Person of Karnes City, Texas and two husbands, Ken Elgin, whom she met while she was in college and he was stationed at the naval base in Kingsville. They were married 27 years; and by H.B. Armstrong who was her childhood sweetheart and they were married for 23 years. She is survived by her and Kens daughter, Joan Elgin Stokes; three grandchildren, Kevin and wife Candy Ables, Kristy K. Collazo and Jessica L. Cooper; seven great grandchildren, Dustin Cooper, Kyle Ables, Cody Ables, Shyanne Collazo, Christian Collazo, Emily Martinez and Julissa Pena; and by other close family members, including Paul Boyd and Andrew Collazo. While married to Ken, and living in Karnes City, she was a Homemaker, Teacher, Girl Scout Leader and a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church. With H.B., they did a lot of traveling and were active with the Shiners of Ben Hur Temple in Austin. After losing B she moved here to be close to her family. Charlotte touched the lives of everyone she met. Her warm heart and quick wit made everyone love her. Even in the end she was laughing and joking with hospital staff and charming her way into their hearts. A visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 5-9 PM, with family calling hours between 6 & 8 PM. A graveside service will be held in the Karnes City Cemetery on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her memory to the Converse Animal Shelter, Inc. at P.O. Box 644, Converse, Texas 78109 (a no kill facility). Charlotte is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
