Charlie Sam Voight, Jr. born on October 30, 1950, in Big Spring, Texas, to Charlie S. Voight, Sr. and Roberta Cass Voight, passed away on August 17, 2020, at the age of 69. Charlie grew up in Big Spring, Texas, where he was known as "Little Charlie", he graduated from Big Spring High School and worked for the Big Spring Newspaper, mostly as a printer and folder. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a new nickname, "Wrong-way Charlie". He continued his education at the University of Texas at San Antonio where he completed his master's degree and earned his Licensed Professional Counselor in December 1999. Throughout the years Charlie worked in various treatment centers, working with both inpatient and out patients as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor for both adolescents and adults. Charlie also worked for Kohl's, and played Santa Claus for the retail store for the last two years. When not working and taking care of others, Charlie enjoyed the simple things in life such as camping in state and national parks, hiking, jogging or walking the neighborhood with his walking stick. When Charlie wasn't enjoying the outdoors, he spent his time indulging in real life mystery shows, science documentaries and learning about history.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Voight Sr. and Roberta Voight; sister, Kathryn Young; brother, Walter Voight. He is survived by his children, James Voight, Ferrol Voight, Michaell Voight and Ashley Voight; grandchildren, Ashton, Jordan, Bree Ann, Taylor, Sydney and Carson; sister, Charlotte Rainey; cats, Fluffy, Dameon and Iliya.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 5:00PM with a Funeral Service to begin at 6:00PM and then continued visitation until 9:00PM.
