Charles Kenyon, Jr.

January 29, 1932 — February 21, 2020

Charles S. Kenyon, 88, of New Braunfels passed away peacefully Friday, February 21, 2020. Charles was born January 29, 1932  in Syracuse, NY to Charles and Helen Kenyon. Charles’  favorite childhood memories were of summers spent in the Adirondack Mountains of New York which set the tone for his lifelong love of nature. He was a graduate of Alfred University in New York.  He was passionate about learning , continuing to read until the final days of his life. When taking up a new activity, Charles would immerse himself and infectiously share his joy with family and friends. Among his many passions were travel, all genres of music, growing and showing roses, raising dogs, fly fishing and gardening.

Charles served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed at Nouasseur Air Base near Casablanca, French Morocco where he met his first wife and mother of his children, Reine B. Kenyon. He enjoyed a career in Agriculture including many years at the Chicago Board of Trade. Charles volunteered in several Catholic parishes as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He shared his faith with zeal.

He is survived by three daughters: Regina Elledge (Richard), Catherine Kenyon (Patrick Pettit), and Michele D’Alessandro, Grandchildren: Justin Elledge (Sarah), Nicholas Elledge, Caroline Elledge, Jaime Donner (Jason), Great-grandchildren: Max, Olive, and Emmeline Elledge and Nicole and Charlie Donner and by his brother Edward Kenyon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kenyon, son, David Kenyon, and brother David Kenyon.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice, especially Angela Ochoa and Kathy Escamilla for their compassionate care. Too many to mention are our family at Gruene Senior Living who cared for Dad and provided him a life of happiness and dignity.
