Catherine Cain

Catherine P. Cain of San Antonio, Texas, age 76, went to join the Lord on January 19, 2019. She was born in Cappamore, Ireland to Stephen and Elizabeth Crowley on May 29, 1942. At a young age, she ventured to London, England where she later met and married her husband, James Cain, before traveling to America in 1965. Catherine was known for her quick wit, eloquent speech, and incredibly strong will. She was active in local state and federal politics, as well as her community, where she fiercely advocated for the rights and better treatment of senior citizens, the disabled, and homeless or abused animals. In addition, she led an impressive career as an accomplished Realtor, earning numerous awards for her Real Estate Achievements. She loved going for walks in the park with her little dog Speedy, feeding and watching her backyard birds, squirrels, and raccoons, baking pies during the holidays, and enjoying an afternoon cup of tea. Catherine, having forsaken conventional medical treatments in preference of a holistic approach, courageously defied her prognosis for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband James; parents Stephen and Elizabeth; brothers John and Willie; sisters Beth, Mary and Nora;. She is survived by her sons, Wayne and Kevin; daughters-in-law Kimberly and Wendy; grandchildren, Celina, Rusty and Heather; brother, Steve; sisters, Margaret and Breda; Nieces, Nephews and her beloved dog Speedy. A Funeral Service will be held on February 5, 2019 at Schertz Funeral Home. Private family visitation will be at 10:00am, Public Visitation at 11:00am and Ceremony at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:00pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to their Local Animal Shelter.
