Cassie Caviel
September 3, 1927 — April 6, 2013
Cassie L. Caviel also affectionately known as NaNa by her family passed away in April 2013 at 85 years of age. She was preceded in death by her mother Cassie Cameron; Sons Keith Anthony Whitehead and Donnie Joseph Whitehead; Granddaughter Candace Nicole Whitehead; and daughter Cassandra Maria Ledebohm. Cassie is survived by her husband, William B. Caviel, daughters Novella A. Magwood and Sharon E. Whitehead, and her sister Ethel Bell Ravanel along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Cassie retired from the Department of Defense after 38 years of Federal civilian service. Her career moves included work in Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio and several short-term assignments at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., Korea, and Hawaii. After retiring, she returned back to San Antonio, Texas to reside. She was a member of St. Monicas Catholic Church and also did volunteer work at the church thrift shop. The family extends their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and other staff members at Methodist Hospital and LifeCare Hospital for the compassionate care given to Cassie and her family. We also thank the staff at both Schertz Funeral Home and St. Monica Church for their kind words and prayers to help us heal through this difficult time.
