Casimiro Carranza (KC, Buckwee, Opa), a beloved friend, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2025, at the age of 62.
KC was born in San Antonio in 1962 to parents Celestino and Braulia Vela Carranza. He attended Samuel Clemens High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. He spent almost 30 years with the love of his life and fiancé Laila Choina, raising 4 children together: Alicia, Danny, Larissa and Kody. KC was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother who was treasured by all. He was the stability of his family with a generous heart of gold and a gentle, patient soul. He loved fresh socks, his cats (most named Bob), and Luling BBQ. He also loved spending time with his ten grandchildren: Cheyann, Eric, Olivia, Sophia, Vivian, Lily, Asa, Gabriel, Angel, and Anthony.
KC could drive anything. Growing up on a farm, he learned to drive at about the age of 6, and carried that love for vehicles into his career as a driver for the army. Later in life he was a cross-country trucker and master mechanic. Whether he was lending a helping hand to a neighbor, offering sound advice to a friend or sharing a quiet moment with his family, KC always put others before himself. As a father, he was a constant source of support and guidance, always encouraging his children to follow their dreams and be comfortable just as they were.
KC had a special bond with his siblings; he was one of thirteen, and they grew up side-by-side, supporting each other through thick and thin, their deep connection continuing throughout their lives. He is survived by his sisters and brothers Lillie, Cecil, Francisco, Cruz, Marta, Rita, Beatrice, Emilio, Enrique, and Connie. KC was number nine and his grandfather’s namesake; he could do no wrong in his parents’ eyes. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Casimiro and Juanita H. Carranza, maternal grandparents Jose and Braulia G. Vela, parents Celestino and Braulia Vela Carranza and sisters Florinda Ayala, and Adela Ortiz.
