Carol Diestelmeier

September 3, 1945 — December 26, 2010

Carol A. Diestelmeier, cherished mother, grandmother, sister and fiance, was escorted home to dwell with her heavenly father on December 26, 2010. She was born on September 3, 1945 in Eldorado, IL and was raised in southern Illinois before choosing Jackson, MS as her home in 1971. Although she was a certified Medical Transcriptionist and Terminologist, her most satisfying work came from the many friendships she formed while working as a pharmaceutical auditor and entrepreneur. Her membership in the Order of the Eastern Star meant a great deal to her as well. She was extremely active in her community, volunteering both her time and her heart to the arts. It was through these activities she met her soul mate, Bill Haller. Together, they worked for the International Ballet Competition, as well as with the many International Art Exhibits that came to Jackson .Carol loved her faith, family, friends and her garden. She is survived by her brother Franklin Edward Raulston of Bedford,OH, daughters Donna Lanier and son-in- law Clay, Deana Erwin and son-in-law Wiley, cherished grandchildren Clayton and Carlton Lanier, Scarlett, Cowen and Morgan Erwin (all of Schertz, TX) and her beloved soul mate Bill Haller. She also leaves as well numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and dear friends who mourn her departure and feel her loss. Everyone who knew Carol was better for having known her, for she always gave you a piece of her heart when she called you friend. The family will receive friends and visitors at 10:00am with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
