Carol Carter
July 2, 1930 — July 11, 2015
We celebrate the life of Carol Kaye Carter who passed peacefully on July 11, 2015 while surrounded by her family in Round Rock, TX. Carol Castell (Henze) was born July 2, 1930 in Rockford Illinois to Carl and Norma Castell. Upon Carl's passing she was raised by her mother and step-father Arnold Henze in Marshalltown, Iowa. Carol spent her childhood in Marshalltown and attended Marshalltown Junior College where she met, the love of her life; Robert W. (Bob) Carter and they were married in 1951. Almost immediately began Bob and Carol's amazing 51 year journey. Together they traveled and celebrated life in the Air Force while raising 5 children. Her surviving children, son in-law, daughter in-laws and beloved grandchildren have heard many stories of life in the military from Carol for years. The family would like to thank all the many friends in the military who continued to love our mom after dad passed in 2002. Additionally, we send a very special thank you to her Northcliffe golfing buddies whom she adored. Carol is survived by her daughter Leslee (and Robert) Matthews; her four sons, Mike (and Suzanne) Carter, Jerry (and Jackie) Carter, Chris (and Sandra) Carter and Dale (and Carla) Carter; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Schertz Funeral Home at 2217 FM 3009 in Schertz. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to Carol's favorite charity; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
