Carol Ann Broekers Allen, 72, of San Antonio, was born on August 9, 1945. She was called home on May 9, 2018 surrounded by her family.
After graduating from Harlandale High School and working at San Antonio City Hall, she married the love of her life and began her life as a military wife and mother. Her greatest joys were traveling the world and her grandchildren.
Carol was a stay-at-home mom when her kids were young, but she did not stay at home much. She was always volunteering at the schools and was honored with a lifetime PTA membership because of her dedication to the organization and the schools she served. Carol worked at the San Antonio Academy of Music to pay for lessons for her children where she developed many friendships. Carol and her husband owned several businesses with Carol running their sheet metal manufacturing business, Misc. Metals. After the loss of her only son in 1990, she began a second career as a realtor and loved aiding buyers and sellers in fulfilling their home dreams.
Carol is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Allen, Jr. and her parents, Martin and Velma Broekers Jr. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas L. Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Desirée and Jason Garner; and grandchildren, Kevin Sherrill, Nicholas Sherrill and wife, Alanna, Colin Sherrill, and Caroline Garner; brother and his wife, Martin and Pamela Broekers, III and their children, Kyle and Abby Broekers; and numerous loving family and friends.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5pm to 9pm. The Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Schertz Funeral Home at 10:30am. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 22nd at 10:30am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter #3.
