Carl Michael Mike Riley passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2009 in Schertz, Texas. Mike was born November 19, 1936 in Victoria, Texas. He was the third of five children born to Claude A. and Dorothy Murphy Riley who preceded him in death, as well as brothers Buddy and Doug and sister Mary Jo Johnston. He graduated from St. Joseph High School and attended St. Marys University. Mike served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 and spent his career in the banking, home construction and steel industries. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret Meissner Riley; son Matthew; daughter Monica Hartmeister and husband Paul; son Michael and wife Anita; four precious grandchildren; Jake, Sam, Owen, and Addison; and sister Claudia Bazar. As a member of the Schertz community for almost 37 years, Mike served in numerous roles as an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, including the Knights of Columbus where he was Grand Knight and received his 4th Degree. He was and will be remembered as a loving companion, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and all-around great friend to many. Services: Tuesday, May 26, 2009 " Visitation 6:00-7:00pm, Rosary 7:00pm at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1065 E. Live Oak Rd., Schertz. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 " Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00am with father Greg Nevlud as the celebrant, Burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Church Building Fund, Schertz; The ALS Association, South Texas Chapter, Creekview Garden Offices, 8600 Wurzbach Rd. #700, SATX 78240; or Memorials, St. Joseph High School, 110 E. Red River, Victoria, TX 77091.
