Capt. Thomas Wayne Ray, USMC (Retired), 84, of Schertz, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired after 23 years of service. He then went on to work for the City of Austin Electric Department, retiring after 17 years. Thomas is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Ray of Schertz; son, Thomas William Ray, daughter-in-law Karen and grandson Parker, Kyle, TX; son, Timothy Wayne Ray, daughter-in-law Kristi, and granddaughters Becky, Hannah, and Ally, Frisco, TX; brother, Gordon G. Ray, Waco, TX; and sister, W. Joyce Meyer, Austin, TX. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010, 5:00-9:00 PM, at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 9, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services, with full military honors, will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
