Buddy Bradshaw

July 13, 1930 — August 14, 2017

Buddy Morton Bradshaw, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 14, 2017, at his long-time family home in Live Oak, Texas. He was born into a large Osage family in Skiatook, Oklahoma, son to Nellie Viola Small and Alvin ‘Scott' Bradshaw. He graduated from Skiatook High School, The University of Oklahoma, and Our Lady of the Lake University, where he received two Master's degrees.
Buddy retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after a long career serving in the United States Air Force. He then chose nobly to care for those with addictions, running the Family Focus Counseling Center for many years. This December would have marked his 49th year of sobriety, a feat which made him incredibly proud. He loved gardening, reading, and above all, writing. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes, which he did devoutly since the age of 16.
Buddy was actively involved in the community and various charitable organizations. He helped in founding the Battered Women's Shelter, as well as served on the Alamo Area Council of Governments, Council of Churches, and the Palmer Drug Abuse Program. He will be remembered for his immense love and eagerness to help those in need.
Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Scott Bradshaw, his sisters LaRue Schutz, Isadora "Sissy" Stevens, and Francis Riddle, along with his brothers, Jack and Leo Bradshaw. Buddy is survived by his wife Jeannine Johnston Bradshaw, his son Michael (wife Adele), his daughters Rebecca Sutton and (husband David), Linda Bradshaw, and Paula "Pee Jay" Bradshaw Smith (husband Jet), as well as seven grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 , at Universal City United Methodist Church (UCUMC) at 3:00 PM . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Buddy's name to the charity of your choice.
